I was watching youtube one day. And I came across this one video about clothes
waste. In the video, it said that 33 billion clothes are thrown away each year and a very small percentage
of them are recycled. And I started to think about the cause of all these problems.
The answer I came
upon was that the initial part of the recycling process, which is collecting the clothes through
clothing bins, is not well known. Currently, most of the clothing bins are dirty, hidden and
unappealing. That is why I decided to make my own.
This clothing bin is friendly looking,
clean, attractive, and well sighted. Also, this clothing bin has 100% transparency and recycle
rate, meaning that all the clothes collected via this bin is donated to Hana mission in Paterson,
New Jersey, where they resell the collected clothes and use the profit to help those in need.
Also, this bin is meant to educate young people about recycling clothes. Today, most people know about
recycling plastics, but not clothes. Most people don’t know that clothes are made out of plastic
too. Through this bin, I hope people will be able to get more knowledge about recycling and eventually
I hope all the clothes are recycled like how we recycle the plastics.
